PERFORMANCE

I have shot tens of thousands of theatre images covering musical theatre, dance shows, bands and many other performances regularly since 2010.

Theatre photography can be extremely challenging for photographic equipment and the photographer. Low light levels, high contrast scenes and of course add into the mix the animated actors and dancers in my opinion makes it one of the hardest disciplines to produce great images from.

I’m adaptable to many different forms of stage lighting from the extremely bright and well lit to very low lighting as can be highlighted from this image of performers from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where the only stage lighting was by mobile phone lights.

Of course capturing the images on stage is only one part of the process and post processing and editing are key to producing an image that closely represents the performers and production. An eye for drama, angles, lighting and fast reactions to capture the scene are all skills that have come with these years of experience.

With over 14 years experience in this challenging genre you can be assured that your stage productions will be professionally captured giving you many great images to use.

I also work with Educational institutions, theatre and dance companies and bands to create promotional images and some recent ones from Hamilton Theatre Arts, Theatre Alliance and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland are shown below.
