Awards Night!

Martin Clark receiving his international top ten award in people category 2023 with the Guild of Photographers

Photography for me, as well as working with lovely clients, is a learning journey. I love to learn new techniques, improve on existing ones and challenge myself.
Working towards awards is a great way to learn both technical skills and life skills and the Guild of Photographers competition year is one channel I use. A fantastic organisation that is really one big family. A supportive community that I’ve been with since 2017, I think.

The Photographers Bar is an award for achieving enough points through entering three images per month over the course of 8 months. It’s a really tough competition to gain enough points and the standard of your images must be good enough to score enough points. This is where you learn your life skills as the competition is a rollercoaster of emotions. Some months you’re jumping for joy and others making you think of taking up another occupation instead. That is the challenge though and it’s a great competition to enter. I received enough points and therefore picked up my Photographers Bar at the awards night in the first weekend of February 2024 at the event in Stoke-On-Trent.

Photographers Bar 2023 in People Category with the Guild of Photographers

A nice surprise was also picking up an award for International Top Ten Photographer for People Category which is just as thrilling as the previous years that I have won this award. Considering the high standard of International Photographers that enter this competition I am extremely proud to be in their company.

The glitzy awards ceremony showcased the best of the best in the photography world and as always it’s a chance to meet up with old buddies and meet new ones.

The highlight for me is to pick up a copy of the awards book which has all the images that have got to the final stages of the competition and I was so pleased to feature two of my images in the book.

Many thanks to Lynne Harper of Lynne Harper Photography (a judge with The Guild of Photographers) and Master Craftsman Photographer for Newborns for being the best company over the weekend.
Two awards winning photographers living 10 minutes from each other must be pretty rare.

Thanks also to my buddies for supporting me through the year.

Finally thanks so much go to Samantha Jayne Photography for the great photos from the awards night. It’s a rare thing to see me in the wild!!!
