In my first post of the year I aired my intentions to do more brand photography. I’ve done this a few times over the last couple of years and I really enjoy it.
When I say brand photography I’m talking about small businesses and entrepreneurs, solopreneurs for example that are building a business based mainly online. What do you need to promote your business online???? Photos…..preferably professionally taken photos and not the shaky phone images we see a lot of.
I’m not arguing that to start a business you have to go all out guns blazing spending a fortune on all things fancy to make your online presence look amazing and reach millions of people. No, because no one really starts like that. Many businesses have sprung up over the last few years and many have used the Covid lockdowns to take up new interests, start selling for fun online and finding time to spend on that hobby that never got beyond the kitchen table.
Coaches, cooks, wellbeing specialists, therapists, mental health specialists, yogis, coffee houses among many more all have appeared and have done well. Most started with posting a single photo from their phone and some have excelled at taking the perfect selfie or great product image or video. The internet and social media users have liked them and shared them and gradually the word spread. In no time the business starts getting orders for products or service. This is how a lot of businesses have started recently.
There comes a time though, it may be early on or later, when the hobby business starts to grow and there’s a little more business focus.. The business needs to uplevel a touch and project a bit more of a professional look to get that bigger client, sell more products etc. You want to be able to show that in the images you use to sell your messages and products.
Maybe you’re well established and just need a refresh or your business takes a change of direction. This is also an ideal time to look at your image gallery and maybe think that the ones you’ve been posting are just not sending the message you need to anymore.

This is where brand photography comes in. This is when you need a professional photo of yourself or your product and your phone selfie or video skills are just not up to creating the images you need any more.
When you are focused on getting your message out there but you struggle to make time to create the content and take the photos, how good would it be to open a library of photos tuned to you and your business and pick one of many possibles? How much time and stress would that save you?
You wouldn’t need to trawl the internet or stock photo sites to get a photo that someone else has already used and doesn’t really fit with your business.
I’ve seen it so many times and that’s fine, we all need to start somewhere but there comes a time when your business just needs that extra touch of personalising.
Working with me on your business brand will focus on getting the right images for you. We’ll talk about your plans, your brand colours, your message and products and design a photo session around those. I provide a questionnaire to gather all the facts and we can have some pre-session calls. Your message, your business, you at the heart. We will work together to help you gain that connection through your images that will encourage your potential customers to like, know and trust you. That’s key when online where you are not meeting clients face to face.
Get used to posting images of yourself in work and out of work situations. People are interested in what you do in your down time. You need to make that connection with your clients to show them that you are human just like them. You like the same things as them, you do similar things, you become familiar to them and they like you and they trust you enough to make a purchase. That’s the goal and I’m here to help you get there.
So if you’d like a library of images tailored to you and your business, have a look at my brand photography page and the packages available. Half day, full day and an annual package will have you covered and posting great content with a consistent brand look. The link is here or just go to the menu at the top of this page.
Thanks, M
